LoveRemembered

It always scares me how everything changes
However, nothing ever seems to be different.
With age, all you have done if grow older,
I can still see the boy from 10 years go,
So scared and insecure.
However, you were so different as well.
All those wishes and dreams I could see before
Were just gone, washed away by time.
You still smiled widely and laughed loudly,
But the truth of those actions was gone.
I cannot stand the things time does to you.
Your sweet innocence and dreams of the future
Were the things that drew me to you.
I can still see you, the you I knew before
The you I spent those days with looking at the sky,
When I saw you there in the bar
I just wanted to drag you back to that roof
And tell you to make a wish, just like before.
The best I can do is just walk away.
Let time do its thing.
There is nothing I can do to bring us back to that time,
But just know that I will always think of you that way
And wish time could stop and we could always be together,
10 years ago on that roof forever.

I guess that's what good poets are blessed with- the gift of imagination, to be able to feel and know something you might not have actually experienced.
This has a rare sensitivity and depth.
I found it touching
and very meaningful.
