Fragarach, of aeons past
of starsteel forged, of winter winds;
the Chalice Ardagh, Pair Cadeni,
mountain streams and music threads;
Lia Fail, of destiny,
anchor, steady heart of land;
Spear Luin, brightly ardent one,
born of coal and tongues of hungry flame--
of late the Four have faded, ebbed,
their spirit gone to Tir na nOg
their stories gone to fairytales
their colors bright and vibrant
long time bleached
for spirit is their better part,
more than stone and steel
that paltriest solidity
is but the merest fraction--
their refuge found within the mind.
And, fading there,
they pass
as dew beneath the noonday sun
but Fragarach, and siblings three,
was sculpted for the hero's hand
was wrought for those whose spirits
dwell with swords and songs and truth
and still today, in quiet ways
in outsize dreams and and whispered words
in blue jeaned heroes herding sheep
the ancient, faded, weary Four
live quietly, quietly on.

Nora you write so well and so mature that once again I am quite impressed.
It was like stepping back in time.
Lovely.

You know, I really love this piece. The expression is truly excellent. And I'm rather proud to be portrayed in such a light (as might be expected!).
Slàn, my friend.

*smiles*
I love this now as much as I did the first time I saw it, and I'm glad Andrew (Or Andre, heehee) likes it as much as I do.
I think the style suits you, hunni, and I am in awe.
When I grow up I want to write like you. lol.
*hugs* Phil xxx
