Stay

Contributed by FjS on Wednesday, 6th October 2004 @ 06:53:20 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Once sprightly a flower,
Which for the sun’s warmth craved,
Lies now moribund, withered,
And at my side retires.
Like the flower, I was granted
Not a week, nor even days,
Yet while petals moulder still,
With more vigour my soul aspires.

Resolutely, I decree,
Ere each night I repose,
That new and old shall be embraced,
Come the next invited morn.
Unlike my hapless flower,
Whose fate was feigned and imposed,
I’ve the chance to further crave,
Till by death’s hand I am scorned.

I have not yet a stone
To call my own and bear my name,
An abode with walls of dirt,
Demurred at and vacant shall remain.
But atop a stone and at my side
Shall wilt flowers once again.
Until that fated day of peace,
Here I am, here I’ll stay.

A beautfiul poem, of remeberance, written with such sensitive passion and in such an awesome flowing style, a rythem of love and of loss, thank you for sharing.
Take Care always.

To say that i'm truly sorry and feel for you regarding your loss seems so superficial. I thought your poem was filled with emotion, raw feeling and i've had similiar thoughts.

Losing a sibling or anyone is not easy. I wish so many times they could stay.

They stay in our hearts and when the flowers wilt, bring new ones as a reminder of the love you hold within you. Just a thought.

Kie

I never thought of a flower as having been assigned a fate...we can add aspirin to a container of water and keep it alive longer...much depends on the care a flower is given as to how long it lives..I suspect the same goes for humans. nice write
