God Help Me Get Through Each Long Day

Contributed by inoc on Wednesday, 6th October 2004 @ 01:42:44 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

sitting still
and I have to pay the bill
waiting for nothing to happen
why did this have to happen?
in that tone..it's time for lunch
my life has come to a crunch
being fed again
what a pain
trying to push the 'bib' away
I just want you to go okay!
that voice says it's to keep you clean
I think of others in the real world..green
one more mouthful
as she tips the drink in my mouth
I just wish I could fly south
wheeled to bed after being washed
I feel dragged and squashed
I just wish I could do it myself
you would not believe I had wealth
I lay praying to be taken away
all my life I worked hard
look at me now I say
to another distant world I'd rather be
I wake praying God set me free
instead I'm drooling
I'm wet and smelly
I feel dirty
I can't even watch my telly
and yet again I am fed
that same tone again is said
after I sit waiting for family to chat to
waiting but no one comes where are you
the same nothing, day in ,day out
my life has jolted to this
I wan't to shout
but it hasn't ended
I am just wasting away
dear God make my days be okay
oh why can't I just die
I am sick of being here I cry
with heavy tears
running from one eye

Having had a severe stroke at the age 50, I can relate to the anger and frustration of the loss of your independence. I still resent a lot of the loss I still have, but you can overcome it if you try. It is difficult and some many times you just want to scream "go away and leave me alone, I can't to this." But if you try hard enough, you can and will. Must be especially hard for a man. Pray for strength for him.

A friend of the family had a stroke at the age 35, it hit him and the family hard, as he used to be truck driver, doing the graveyard shift...Now he is like this poem. :(
This is written so well and with such feeling and sensitivity, it bought back memories, though sad, it is good for to remember, and respect life a little more, I hope you find some peace in you life Inoc, for I really dont know what else to say.
