my words
reject my possession of them
and become merely 'words', inhuman
and cold
(which are not the same-
pleasedeargodletthetwonotbethesame)
so I clutch at the words
which refuse to be mine
as they tiptoe across the page,
hobbling, broke-winged,
because once they needed me
as much as I needed them-
so we both grew up
crippled
the words were mine and I was theirs and we dared to need each other until we didn't anymore and then---
I was lost
and they are strangers
we pass, sometimes
but they distance themselves
rejecting me
mechanical, they are
markings and designs in black
on paper and screen-
the words need me no longer
and so I dare not need the words
/the words have betrayed me and now they mean nothing/
(please god take me up to that Neverland
where the words understand me
again.)

I found this very interesting...something that set me thinking.
The word that comes to my mind, to describe it's effect is 'sharp-edged' somehow.
This is a good write...it has the quality to show a different dimension everytime you read it(I read it twice). |

This write is simply exquisite. It arouses my curiosity and provokes me to become utterly indulgent and sedulous in writing.
Each verse leaves me desiring more yet the final stanza could not have been more perfect. Such emotion is sharp and penetrant and it could not have been expressed more magnificently. It is supremely moving and I thank you for sharing such tender yet desperate emotion through your work.
so I clutch at the words
which refuse to be mine
as they tiptoe across the page,
hobbling, broke-winged,
because once they needed me
as much as I needed them-
so we both grew up
crippled
. . . this verse had me captivated.

Sensitve, beautiful and emotional too, your grasp on wording is so cool, the story, the flow I was hooked, Read once read twice, still here, gonna read again, Your talent of mezmerising the reader with artistic words just totally rocks. |

the words were mine and I was theirs and we dared to need each other until we didn't anymore and then---
I was lost
Wow.... just, yeh... WOW!
Because I still remember Evanesce (Relationship with a Word) and because I still re-read it when I feel like I'm losing my grip... I know, this has to be a passing thought/struggle. You lasso words like none other, Nora... but every now and then - they get a bit frisky and are hard to get hold of (why does the image of a greased pig come to mind! LOL!!!!).... I have, though, complete confidence in your ability to reign them in in due time. Honestly... I suspect you already have.
I shall be lost in the words above for a very, very long time - because I've felt that way myself and because I could never explain it as you have so eloquently.... Thank you, Nora - for having the courage and the intelligence to do so,
SNM
