Remember

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Remember the time we learned to steal flowers
from the roots lying deepest in the ground
before the reaper called spring came,
and how the stars used to wait all day…
how we teased them, how they pleaded,
for just one glimpse of the stolen roses.
Remember how we made friends with silence
and crushed our words into dust of sapphires
and coloured wings of butterflies with them.
How we tied dreams to paper kites
and when parts of us flew away with them,
the fun it was to see the world from a cloud.

Remember how we strung songs with strings of silk,
then when the winter came, we hung them on trees,
and how the birds flew all around in surprise…
How we flowed with the sunshine on rivers,
right into the heart of an ocean, and when the night came,
we slept in a sea-shell, that a child picked up at dawn.
Remember the time we kneeled and prayed for love
and washed the wounded rocks with our tears, prayed for
the fragile strength of the truth that bound us together.
Remember the time we walked as two and yet,
when we looked down the bridge into the clear waters,
what we saw was one.

What I can’t remember is when we started forgetting
how to gather wild roses that haven’t bloomed yet,
how to paint butterflies and fly with dreams,
how to talk to stars and make songs for winters,
when we started forgetting how gentle…
is the whiteness of a sea-shell, how strong…
is the simplest prayer,
when we started forgetting
to look down bridges.

A beautiful piece tying in memories of dreams and hopes. I love the connections from a somewhat sweet and imaginative world to the current day. I love the hidden metaphors.

Kisses,

This is magnificent, to say the least. It is so sad when we evolve from those innocent childhood beliefs and dreams and enter the jaded world of adults. This piece actually brought a couple of tears because of wishes and dreams that could have come true if I had not stepped out of childhood. Beautiful write.

Brought tears to my heart. I would have done well to remember many things.
Take care.
