A fretful child’s mind I reprise as she grows near.
Backdrops of faces to black fade and disappear.
Fortuitousness like this again I would never see.
Nor this tethered and rapt again would I ever be.
Her entrance, leaving not one heart unstirred,
Is artfully shadowed by an appetence to be blurred.
Once more has she evanesced to visual trickery.
But once more has she left intact indelible imagery.
Of cherished memories, none compare within a galaxy
To those of her, which saw an angel flaunt her smile.
Ever so briefly, could I fly with nonpareil majesty.
Torturously fleet, yet on this smile I sailed a mile.
If after what felt like an infinitude of scouring the day,
No water with which to defeat destiny had I found,
She’s miraged martyrdom, towards which I’d stoutly stray;
Over desert without scope, and in ghosts and perils abound.
