A Gift From My Mum & Dad

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 3rd October 2004 @ 12:39:48 PM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

I received a gift from my mum & dad,
It is the best that I have ever had,
They gave to me a brand new life,
Helped me through my grief & strife.

People looked on me as an orphan,
But I was given much more than fortune,
I was adopted & of that I am proud,
My appreciation can be heard all around.

I’d be given love & it felt great,
Now my parents were holders of my fate,
The two people who are always there,
Holding my hand & showing me they care.

I am so lucky to have been given a chance,
I feel so happy I could sing & dance,
My parents hand picked little old me,
They showed me how good life can be.

Adopted kids are the same as everyone else,
Shouldn’t be sneered at & put upon a shelf,
I just had a really tough beginning,
Now I am singing as I am winning.

Parents love their biological child. But an adopted child is very special because two people chose to love that child. Not just because it was born to them, but because they wanted a child and they chose the perfect one for them. You were specially chosen, not just born.

Hugs,
Rita

First I must admit that you are one of the best poets on this site, but this poem is not well written like all your others, I said you had a unique style and you do, but I didn't see it in this one, sorry.
