Losing Sue

Topic: SadPoetry

waiting patiently day after day
for Sue to be finally found I pray
my aged fingers are purple from the cold
I remember Sue as a baby only minutes old
it has been one whole week
when the sargent said your daughter we seek
where is she where did she go
only God above would surely know
I hear a noise a real loud bang
I rush to the door my heart it sang
Sue your here we hug laugh and chat
together at last ,close we sat
the phone rings I slowly I reach over
holding the receiver I suddenly dicover
that I was asleep in my chair
and my darling Sue was not there
the Sargent happily said on the other end
that they found Sue and it wasn't pretend
I woke up tucked in a hospital bed
with a caring policeman beside my head
he's holding my fingers now a pale blue
I whispered softly you found Sue is it really true
so sorry...there has been a horrible accident
they died instantly when they hit a fence of cement
Sue and my Sargent are both dead
with that my heart it bled
the staff of the hospital try and revive
together at last with Sue I strive

that is so sad, for she almost got her child back and then all hope was shattered. i almost started crying it was that sad, to have your hope shattered like that and striped from you in such a way would cause anyone grief...
