Untitled Song

Contributed by blackmarker on Saturday, 2nd October 2004 @ 01:46:55 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

I’m not as tough as I know I should be,
I’ve often given in to the tears.
Just waiting for something to come set me free,
I’ve been waiting for sixteen long years.

[ Chorus ]
I want to stand outside in the pouring rain,
I don’t think I mind the cold any longer.
Watch the raindrops fall; wash away all my pain,
Whatever hasn’t killed me makes me stronger.

Sometimes I can’t help but think I’m a mistake,
The little girl wanted by none.
With every thought, a part of me breaks,
From the things that just can’t be undone.

How can you tell when I’m hurting inside?
Can you see through all the times that I lied?
Straight-faced, I said, “No, everything’s fine.”
On the outside I tried to remain calm and collected,
Inwardly I hurt myself for feeling so rejected;
For leaving myself so unprotected.

[ Chorus ]

I’m not dead yet, that’s a good sign, right?
Seldom times I didn’t wish it were so.
But I haven’t yet given up the fight,
I haven’t surrendered to my woe.

Somehow I manage to still carry on,
Although I cannot promise that I will be strong,
I’ll try to no longer do any wrong.
And I’m willing to admit that I am weak,
In my mind, my body, the words I speak,
I’m sorry for all the pain that I always wreak.

[ Chorus ]

I’m not as tough as I know I should be,
I’ve often given in to the tears.
Just waiting for something to come set me free,
I’ve been waiting for sixteen long years.

[ Chorus x2 ]

this is a very courageous and uplifting song.. It reminds me of a song by Jody Messina called "The Rain"
