Allow Me To Dream

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Saturday, 2nd October 2004 @ 10:38:08 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You were there at sunrise
(almost)
Real enough to touch
Through the cluttered mind
Of early morning
I dreamt you, dreamt much

It was ever after always
(nearly)
Whispered in the dawn
A dreamer’s hopeful wish
For tomorrow
Not foolish, not wrong

It existed as perfection
(maybe)
To you I belonged
With sleep turning gently
To reality
I held you, held on

But slumber ran away
(truly)
Taking you along
The teardrops came with
The daylight
You were absent, gone

Alone without you
(still)
Longing for night
Wanting only to return
To the dream
Where we as one, unite

I will find you there
(always)
At the day’s end
When sundown brings yet
Another chance
To have you, once again

You are so very creative!
The insertion of the single words is a very nice touch. The overall longing in the poem reaches out to me, touches me.
Keep dreaming,
Last nights dreams can be tomorrows delight.
I am never disapointed by your writes, thank you.

SNM, hon, I'm shocked, stunned, awed, impressed, and touched . . . this is so beautiful, so perfect, so very you. It must have been hard to write this, but it came out wonderfully. Keep writing, hon.

hugs,
Nora

I love this write...a dream lover who seems so real, or a lover who we can never have.

So beautiful and so very well written

I love the sentiment in this poem and I really like the style you chose.
Those one word second lines are so poignant. Absolute perfection.
