World of Pretend

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 18th July 2002 @ 12:15:11 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

With a deep sigh
I fall with a thud
Into my home that I call depression
Its a big pit
And I try to climb out,
But only succeed
In getting dirt in my eyes

Its so cold and lonely down here
I truly believe
Only one person can pull me out,
But she no longer seems to care
Not to imply your life should
Revolve around me
I realize your to busy
With other friends
With your own world of pretend,
But just one of your smiles
Could dig me out of here
Maybe I should buy one?
But no your to busy
To be involved
In my ***** up world of pretend

So I curl into a ball
Unnoticed in a dank corner
Softly sobbing to myself
Tears staining my dirt-streaked face
My hair gel flaking
Clumping together in my hair like dandruff
My teeth rotting and falling out
My tongue cleaving to the roof of my mouth
Swollen and useless
Warts grow on my hands
Cuts become infected and swollen
Puffing up like cotton balls
Welcome to my ***** up world of pretend

I love the opening verse here and you build the poem up into real crescendo...a dark and angry, well written piece.
