watching me through the glass
laughing so hard tears form in their eyes
i sit there alone in a corner
my long stringer hair, dripping with water
circles under my eyes, caused from lack of sleep
i am hugging my legs, rocking back and forth
trying to draw comfort
what am i to them?
this isnt a zoo
im not an animal
but still, i am behind this glass
children are tapping on the glass
anger began pulsating through me
it had been for a while in fact
i began pounding on the glass
it frightened the taunters, which caused them to leave
but i was still trapped behind the glass
acting on anger and impulse did no good
i had to think
deciding how to act rationally
as i was thinking the taunters returned
i ignored them
their cruelty would not subject me
i began to grow a new respect for myself
and as this happened the glass vanished

dark indeed, and well written. the images are quite powerful. The fear, being trapped/paralyzed - it's comes through loud and clear. |
