Stains of Broken Promises

Contributed by pyrofungus on Wednesday, 29th September 2004 @ 07:56:57 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

What good are promises
When nobody keeps them?
They’ve been breaking them all their lives
Knowing it hurts for good
You knew what promises meant to me
How my dad broke them all
How it hurt me
And still does
You knew!
You knew not to break it!
I trusted you
I love you
I believed you
But you became my father
The one thing you should’ve never done!
Anger now runs in my veins
My heart weeps
Staining me for good
From the words that you have used
So carelessly
Hurting me
I cried
I cared
I believed and waited
I trusted you
And all you could say was
“I’m sorry, I don’t want you to hate me”
But I never can
‘cause all I can do is love you
And live with another stain from another broken promise
From another person that I love
But it was different this time
This promise meant the world to me
It’s one of those that cling on to you
And won’t let go
And you broke it…!
The most important promise of them all
And you spilled it all over me!

expectations are standards that many have just to have hope, and it blows up in their faces. putting stock in the future and in other people is pointless, because both are unreliable in all ways. hope may spring eternal, but so does failure. anything can say anything, its if they can ever back it up that matters, not what they actually said.

One thing about a broken promise..even after it's mended...the cracks still remain and it's hard to forget..especially if it was something important. I know how you feel...especially about your dad..this poem really hit home..wow!!!!

I felt this one. You have really poured your heart into it.
I'm sorry you were hurt, and I would say that things will
get better, but it's sometimes painful to point out the obvious.
Good Luck.
