The Win-win Contest

Contributed by norm on Wednesday, 29th September 2004 @ 12:32:54 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

If I could climb a mountain high,
T'would make of me a lofty I,
Then all the people down below
Would watch me climb up in the snow.

If I could drive a Spalding 'pill'
Up and down a grassy hill,
The folks who stand behind the ropes
Can shout and yell upon the slopes.

If I could smash a tennis ball
That landed fair when it does fall,
The buffs who come into the stand
Can yell and howl to beat the band.

If I could run a racing car
So fast I'd be in front by far,
The crowd would cheer, "Hurrah, Hurrah",
I'm a hero, La-dee-da.

If I could swim a river wide,
And get me to the other side,
The folks who stand and watch the feat
Can cheer their hero in the meet.

If I could find a gloreous thing,
And give to her a diamond ring,
My friends can rant and they can rave,
But I know my soul she'll save.

A mountain I can never clinb
And lofty, I can only mime.
A golf ball up and down a hill
Would only make me very ill.

A tennis ball whoever calls
ad-out is where it always falls
A racing car, I'm sure you know
With me inside will never go.

A river wide, half way across
Is all I'd make, A sure thing loss.
All things considered, I'm the king,
It brought me love, this wedding ring.

All the contests that I've lost,
Are rather small in terms of cost,
I'm glad to play the game of life
A game between a man and wife.

The way you play, you never lose,
You play the rules of don'ts and dos.
The crowd can rant and rave and bleat,
The love we have, you cannot beat.

I know that love
I've chose it, too
I'm happy that it's there for you
Your wife, she surely is a pearl
you're blessed to have
that loving girl
