Screeching to a halt
Frozen in time
The blank stares of the hopeless
Desparately beg for salvation.
Scrambling to find an answer
But silence only comes
As they wait and wonder
Who will deliver me from this pain?
Feeling little more than a hallow echo
They seek means to fill the space
Indulgence, tears, physical harm
Further feed their attempts at control.
But still they spiral downwards
Grasping for an invisible rope
To keep them from falling through
Their rabbit hole of self-torture.
I see this desparation around me
And cry silently for them all
And all I can do is wonder...
What are they trusting in
To save them form the pain?
Where does their hope lie
For savlation from this life?
In my heart the truth rings clear
As a voice speaks from within...
It must not be in Christ.

Sometimes one is so down that they don't know how to trust so therefore they have to rely on another's faith to get them thru.
Great writing.

Wow . . . Emily, this is beautiful. Your talent shines here. We don't exactly share the same beliefs, but I found this to be touching and beautiful and in a way I can relate (though maybe not to the last few lines; instead a substitute of my own) to it. Anyhow, wonderful job, you :). C'est magnifique, mon ami(sp?) :).

excellent write. faith and hope, something not tangible is never something to hold on to for some. that is why they try to gain control things that are tangible, pain by harm etc. |

Nice work, o friend.
To the point, as you so like to be. Possibly a little less ornament than I would like (it needs some Elvish in somewhere!), but quite good nonetheless.
Oh, and true, too...

Very well written.
Emotional and meaningful,
and of course, very true.
And a very unique way of
expressing the message of salvation.
Great write!

It's a deleterious thing at times. I wish I had the answers. I like the writing, good job. |

A true concern. I loved the idea of this poem. I often wonder that too. I have no clue how I would get along had I not Christ. I need Him to cope with everything. I wonder and I cry too, but "cry silently" and "All I can do is wonder".....you know that's not true! You can do so much, but I understand the depression of the poem, as it was quite heartfelt. I can relate. Let's have our tears be the salt of the earth. Good luck on this battlefield fellow soldier.

I know exactly what you mean. The eyes convey a sadness, a hopelessness in most cases. It hurts when they don't listen.
Take care.
