Dance With Me

Topic: MiscPoems

Dance with me.
Dance with me under the bright lights
Of street lamps all around us.

Throw your shoes away,
Forget your pride and dance with me.
Forget everything you learned about good manners
And dance in the parking lot at night with me.

And if you say no I'll just shake my head
And drag you there anyway.
Lets just dance freely and ignore
The stares we'll get from others.

We will lose our selves in the dance
Of happy times and to much soda.
Midnight in the parking lot of joy
If that makes any sense at all.

Can you see the looks of happiness
On the faces of those that see
Us dancing in the moonlight?

So throw away you inhibitions
And grab my hand.
Lets start our dance
And blow away the world.

Champagne in verse! I loved it - it brought an instant lift to my spirits and a smile on my face. The lack of pretention in both the invitation of the poem as well as your writing of it makes this so joyful. A great write!
