Purgatory Tears

One thousand tears I've cried,
and these bittersweet dreams
are tearing down everything I've ever tried
but nothing seems to drown out
my hearts tender screams.
Sometimes I swear I'm so much colder
when this place won't seem to let me go.
Though I know that I've grown older
it's just so hard to admit to what I know.
I can't seem to shed a tear for what I've done
it makes me feel like a monster deep inside.
I'm staring into the mirror at a clone
and he's staring back with eyes so cold,
and I hate him because I know he's me.
Sometimes I wish for silence
but I know that this is all I've earned.
In the darkness I pray that someone will save me
from this unfound way of life.
But is must be destiny
for me to walk this way alone.
Maybe tomorrow I'll try hard enough
to get myself out of this.
Don't cry for me if I should fail
because in death I may find a bit of bliss.
Something
I should have found in you.

Your poem is different then what I have read so far on here. I noticed in the line,You will try harder. I believe that is your problem, You think that you can do it all on your own. You also wrote you pray that someone will save you. Why don't you let him.meaning God. Give it to him and let him do the work. And don't pick it back up,Once you give it to him. |

The last stanza struck a strong chord with me. Some of us go through life always thinking if we only try harder. George Orwell knew the concept well. Acceptance of self is both the hardest and the easiest step we might take, and no one can take it for you.
Nice write and nice to see you here.

Dark, hopeless, melancholy, depressingly poignant at parts...and overall, brilliant. Excellent work, great expression of scathing emotion. And that ending; all I can say is wow.

This is a good piece. Powerful, and the last stanza brought the punch home.
One thing I couldn't believe more, and that is that darkness doesn't hold forever. Life can tear at us, can pretty much leave nothing worth keeping, but even in doing so, perhaps something better is born, and waiting the opportunity to show itself. Maybe someday...
It's all maybes, sometimes.
Take care.
