Just before you walk

Contributed by Archie on Monday, 27th September 2004 @ 05:59:54 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Introduction
This song was inspired by my dad. He died in 1985 the same year that I began writing poetry and lyrics, the same year I began singing and going to church for myself. I never knew how he felt about me because I was not the best son I could be. Caught up in family rumors and thoughts about how others said he felt about me I wrote this song in 1988. I guess you can say I would not be the writer I am if it was not for my dad. I think of him almost everyday. More than any other family member he has influenced my writing the most. I was 20 years old when I wrote this song. That was 16 years ago.

Let me let you know
before you walk through that door
that I- I love you
I know we have not agreed
in every form
but let me let you know
that I love you

One of these days
I''m gonna become
all that you want me to be
One of these days
I''m gonna become
what I see within my dreams
One of these days
I will be free
free to live my life
the way that it''s supposed to be

Just before you walk through that door
let me let you know that I love you
Let it stay upon your mind
You can't live this life alone

Dedicated to Archie Lee Brown Sr (1940-1985)

Heeeeeey,
Nice song. Very good. Exellent. I don't see too many songs written in memory of one's parent. I really liked this song. 5/5

very sweet. but just remember what you hear isnt always facts. making yourself proud is all that matter, and dont you dare flip that around to make it where you have to feel proud if you make someone else proud.

This one goes straight to the heart- for it's simplicity and depth, for it's vulnerability and strength.
A wonderful dedication.
