SMILIN' THRU'

It�s mighty hard to smile
And keep your chin up when you�re down.
It�s harder still, when winds blow ill,
To laugh and play the clown.
But take a tip from me, my friend,
And time will prove it�s true,
That your neighbor round the corner
Is having problems too
From the time of Eve and Adam
In the garden of the Lord,
When they fled in desolation
From the Wrath of Gabriel�s sword,
Every man has had his troubles
And his secret sorrows too,
And the only way to face them
Is to just keep "Smilin� Thru�"
Oh, this isn�t empty babble
From some poor romantic fool,
Who has known no griefs or sorrows
And has only played the tool;
It�s the law of common sense, my friend,
So use it for a clue,
Both you and your good neighbor
Who is having problems too.
So when the battle�s hardest,
When your shoulders droop and sag,
When you�re heart-sick, sore and weary,
And your footsteps slowly lag,
Just turn and face breast forward,
And you�ll help your neighbor too
If you�ll only lift your chin up,
And keep on "Smilin� Thru�"!
