To Drown a Memory

Contributed by AndTheFoolShallBurn on Sunday, 26th September 2004 @ 08:36:14 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I'm drinking too much again, but it makes the memories go away. I watch them fuzz at the bottom of the bottle, then try to keep them down. But somehow they always come back. I wish I could cope a little better, but that's one thing I wasn't blessed with.

So now I wait for something good to come. For something to happen in my favor, all the while drowning myself alive. The taste of amnesia, ever so temporary, I wish I could just forget it all.

Kill this ruptured memory, let it drown in my addictions. I miss life without your letters, but this keeps me company until you come back. I'll just sit here in my box and drink your thoughts away. I'll just sit here and die without you.

powerful. alcohol never solves anything, so the reasons why you drink wont go away. alcohol tends to kill people physically and emotionally, because alcohol is a determining factor sometimes with relationships and people.

i think this a great poem. you should listen to smile empty soul.....ur poem reminds me of the song bottom of a bottle. but think about it. if you could really choose to forget are you sure thats what you'd want? are the bad times enough to make u want to forget the good? the temporary comfort is just a black hole that once you get in you won't be able to find ur way out, even if u wanted to....be careful
