Souvenir Smiles For You

Contributed by ShadowDaughter on Saturday, 25th September 2004 @ 04:21:29 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

no souvenirs are left to me
no poetry I'll read enough
to know each line by heart
no faded scrapbook pictures
to bring me back
to way back when

but I'm with you there
in the corner
I'm with you in the words
we wrote and couldn't write
I'm with you in the yesterdays
and oh, my friend,
I'm there with you
in every quaint tomorrow

you told me to keep all them smiling
I'll postmark and forward
the smiles you sent me
and I'll pray that they smile
(though I don't really pray)
because you told me,
keep them smiling
and in their smiles
I'll find my souvenir.

and I'm with you there
in the corner
(and we're smiling)
I'm with you in the words
we wrote and couldn't write
(and we're smiling)
I'm with you in the yesterdays
(and how we smile there)
and oh, my friend,
I'm there with you
in every quaint tomorrow
(we smile)

and everyone you told me to
and everyone, everywhere,
all 'round the world
are all smiling
--I tried my best to get them to--

just for you.

Sandy needed this encouragement, dear. I think the Lord will lead her to it. :)

Sometimes, hon - I know the only way to get it to come out just right is to write it. And how perfectly this came! This piece is beautiful, because the heart embedded in it is. Sandy (and every single one of us for that matter) is so very lucky to have you for a friend.

I'm so very glad to come here after Sandy did... to know that she's back, to know that she's read it... to know that it and her have made their way home.

Beautiful.
SNM
