Buried Beneath the Water’s Edge

Contributed by pyrofungus on Saturday, 25th September 2004 @ 02:13:31 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Moonlight reflecting off the lake’s shadowy water
Where once lied a woman
Buried beneath the water’s edge
Crawling next to the rocks that now stay permanent
Fish feeding off her young tired body
Swollen stiff and cold
Once a life worth living
Happiness for miles
That seemed as if it could never end
One wrong word
A new person is spoken to
Happiness fades and trails off into misery
Leading to an angry soul
That lurks in the past
Holding a grudge
From someone else
Leaking it onto the woman
That wept from
Her sore pleading eyes
She asked for forgiveness
Knowing she did no wrong
Accepting his past
He just couldn’t trust her
Lying her to rest in her watery grave
Until that day when she will be found
With no trace of who she once was
And the life that she had once lived…
