Giving up

Contributed by Adonia_Donata on Thursday, 23rd September 2004 @ 03:26:50 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

The fight is gone within me.
I've no longer a will to live.
I've no desire to leave this life,
But I've nothing left to give.

I gave my mind and lost it;
I gave my soul and died.
I gave my heart and body,
And I've shriveled up inside.

I've given up the right to fight;
I've thrown in the towel.
I've lost the need to see the truth;
My insides are black and foul.

The God I worship and call upon,
Who gave me life and fame,
I'm so far past caring about this life,
I can't even call His name.

I know He's there, He cares for me.
To this I am not blind.
Yet in this moment of despair,
I've left that faith behind.

Don't get me wrong, you must understand,
His love I do not doubt.
It seems this time, in this dull hour,
My hope has just run out.

Excellent write. I am at this point myself. Today I heard a sermon from Philippians 3:7-14. Meditating on this has been helping me and I hope it may encourage you. God bless
