Excavations

Contributed by Ooniegirl on Sunday, 10th November 2002 @ 08:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I bury my feelings
bits and pieces of my past,
of my life,
in dark corners of closets
and in old shoe boxes hidden under beds
debris
someday to be excavated
by someone
looking to explain
what came before
and why my world is
as it is today.
New lives will be built
upon these ancient, sacred ruins
strong enough to support
yet curiously, intriguingly
too weak to endure.
Tales of survival, of plundering,
of pillaging, of fleeing,
from Dorian invaders.
The fated destruction
of a more peaceful, innocent
way of life.
The onset of Dark Ages.
These stories will be mined,
the delicate and strange artefacts
to be unearthed
and I will be understood
or rather
someone will try to reconstruct
who I was
and what came before
who I am today.

The buried treasures of your inner-self are as perfect as anything that you are most proud of and willingly put on display. These are the things that make us; thus, they are to be put on the mantle and celebrated for bringing us here. Oil; gold; diamonds: all relics of the past that are revered for their value.
New lives are indeed built around you, not on your ruins, but on your light.
