Stumbling across the deserts of my frayed sanity
Etching my pain upon this beautiful tapestry
Hope, I'd sell my soul just to taste
Hopelessness, I'd sell my soul for a respite
Stressed and pushed beyond the brink
Quivering on a narrow thread of existence
Eloquence, but a fleeting whisper
Forlorn staring at the naked possibilities
Poignant, yet pointless pleas that leave me drained
And fall upon the windy deserts of my soul
Crying into my empty well called Hope
Desperate, searching for a charade, a fix
To hold my quivering limbs together
Self-destructive tendencies a tender reminder of myself
Deep within the forgotten recesses
A place where darkness cannot roam
A place where an unquenchable light shines
A place... that even I forgot
Until my darkest night
Where I prayed and wept
Over the beauty I missed
And the years I thought I'd lost forever
That night I finally place my childlike trust in Him
He'd seen my darkest days
When I could only weep with sorrow
When I rejected Him He still held tight
All that I have lost has been restored
In Him and Him alone I place my trust
He is my God, He is Jesus
And darkness CANNOT roam here

Ohhh . . . Joel . . . this is so beautiful, so touching and powerful and just all-around awesome. Love it, and I almost never love spiritual/religious/whateveryawannacallit poems. Greatgreatgreat job with this.

Well, been a while. I need to update myself on all your poetry again now I'm sort of back.
Anyway, I love this one Joel. You capture words so amazingly well, and all your poetry is lovely. It's good to be back reading some of your work.

I felt many emotions while reading this poem of yours Joel. I also believe you are a talented poet who has a knack at penning his soul to words.
The title and contents of this poem were in harmony.
I loved it.
