Topic: insomniac

The sun goes down behind the trees to take a rest from lighting my days.
And I pull down the old brown shade and try to forget
That my window has no glass, on duct tape to keep out the cold.

I pull my pillow close and close my eyes tightly.
I try to forget my active mind and my desperate life.
My skinny kitty curls up by my feet and purrs softly.

I know I will not sleep tonight, but the least I can do is try.
Now there is no dog to burst into my room at night
And the other cat is locked out side.

My brother fell asleep at five in the afternoon
I will let you guess why.
And I hug my pillow closer and block out his words
That keep coming to my mind.

And my kitty jumps up and runs out of the room
And I think I hear the other one meowing by my window.
And I know mum is missing the dog even though he ate everything.

I can smell my dad’s cigarette smoke wafting through my window.
He’s kill him self with those things
That I am supposed to smoke when I turn 16.

Bad music blasts from my radio
Keeping the sounds of my mum out of my room.
But it does not work and I can hear the clicking of her key board.

I shut my eyes tightly and focus on the songs.
But they are not the ones I want to hear
And my CDs do not seem to work anymore.

After hours of this, I might be able to sleep
And finally get away from my house
And I can go somewhere else for a few hours.

Interesting - nice write. It does kinda work as an insomniac poem. I have my bouts of insomnia from time to time.
