Redemption

Contributed by Adonia_Donata on Wednesday, 22nd September 2004 @ 11:00:10 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Slavery, bondage, trials, tears,
Desperation, anguish, fire, fears...

I hide in the darkness,
Afraid of the Light.
No passion, all anguish,
No will to fight.

All fury, no freedom,
My heart breaks in two.
I'm lost, I'm dying,
Not reaching for you.

I turn my back,
Then cry for Your help.
The Voice laughs in mockery,
No mercy I've felt.

What did I expect?
Betrayal deserved.
And then I remember:
My time has been served.

The Voice whispers, "Remember,
You're nothing, your filth!"
My Lord says "She's pure,
And dressed in white silk.

For My love has cleansed her,
With My death, and My Blood.
Though her sins were like scarlet,
Her clothes sewage and mud."

The Voice cries, "She's mine!
A sinner, a liar!
She'll be with me,
In sulfur, in fire!"

My Lord turns His back,
The Voice has no power.
He says, "Come with me,
For this very hour,

I have heard your cry!
My child, you're free!
In My house you belong,
Forever with me."

My heart leaps within me,
With joy unrestrained.
With all that I've lost,
So much more I've gained!

No slavery, no bondage,
No trials, no tears!
No desperation, no anguish,
No fire, no fears!

For my Lord, He is with me,
Forever by my side!
For my sins I've been judged,
My life has been tried.

I was found wanting,
I lacked all that was good.
But my Lord paid the price,
With His death, with His blood.

Now I am with Him,
My anguish will cease.
In Heaven, no tears,
Only Love, Joy, and Peace.
