Blind sight

It's what I see when I stop listening,
Or what I hear when I close my eyes,
The face that exists only to cloud,
A certain piece of you that always dies.
To stay or to run is a choice not to choose,
Just lay in your bed and think that it's true.
A finality that I'd rather not hear,
And what I would choose I'll regret for years.
An ache in your heart just to burden the mind,
A reason you seek just to make you more blind.
To pretend once again that the truth isn't there,
The sky you can't see no matter how long you stare.
And so the dust falls, an existence so small
And this heart will forever be there,
To look back just now, I'd do it again,
with the thought that someone might care.
