One Man's Confession

Gleaming mirror had shown, unlit path he had sown
Fallen too far to atone
One last gaze at a face, now ensconced in disgrace
Condemned within carapace
Amidst muddled extremes, strong insanity teems
Tortured in repentant dreams
Those deviant urges, he captured in surges
Asleep, conscience emerges
One man's confession, admission of guilt
Shattered an image that purity built
Silently reflecting, dark secrets infecting
Lost soul not worth protecting
Of genus sonora, a serpentine aura
Unleashed his own Pandora
Without any question, to hell he's predestined
Peccant choice of profession
Glance over the shoulder, demeanor gets colder
Knows he will grow no older
One man's confession, consuming regret
Seeks expiation to repay his debt
'Pon a table of oak, the mere sight made him choke
Noose swang forth past umbral cloak
In a moment of hope, neck slid into the rope
Answer with which he can cope
The fingers of lament, 'round his neck they are bent
Criminal breath in descent
That slipknot did tighten, lives no more to frighten
By one shade this world brightened
One man's confession, intensive deplore
To settle the score, respires no more

Some say that criminal behavior is due to a mental conditon...some say it's because they are just from bad seed. Maybe a combination of the two? No matter.
This write is excellent with the V.S. mark all over it.
Very well done
Barkeep!

Different for you...and yet, as Larry says, with your distinctive feel. I have long felt extreme curiosity about the inner workings of those who would do us harm---particularly those in whom the evil is so well hidden. A fascinating look into the thoughts of one who took that path.

Well this poem actually got me to thinking about our dispositions, destinations, what we are prone to do and what is gentically acquired. Lots of why's that I cannot answer.
This was a very interesting poem to read from a brilliant mind blessed with composition.
I'm glad to see you posting again.

wow this was poetic indeed. I loved this and
this line, "The fingers of lament, 'round his neck they are bent" just beautiful. He killed
himself right? I'm spellbound...
