Determined Destruction

Contributed by Adonia_Donata on Monday, 20th September 2004 @ 02:29:01 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Broken wings...do they fly on?
Where do I draw the line?
Where will I find the one to rely on?
How will I know who to find?

My heart was wide open, a book to be read.
Quickly left broken, left bleeding, left dead.
I won't let him destroy me, I will not give in.
He can't have my soul, I won't let him win.

He holds my heart in his hands, I will not deny.
He breaks me with a glance, does not need to try.
I trusted again, I laid it all down,
Like tying the rock, preparing to drown.

Broken wings, broken trust,
Blackened heart, decietful lust.

He took me, he burned me, he turned me around.
I'm so far gone, I'll never be found.
I love him, I want him, need him almost.
But he broke me deep, where it hurt the most.

The doors are now closing, but my foots in the way.
I don't want to give up, I want this feeling to stay.
Not the hurt, not the pain, those I'll live without.
But the joy, the delight, as before all the doubt.

A crook of his finger, I'll come running at will.
My heart's deep desire, I will try to fill.
He'll hold me and soothe me, I'll trust him again.
And for a short while, these broken wings will find wind.

I once had a love like this... they are so volatile, as if you will explode when you are together, or if you are apart you will die. My poem "Love's Control" explains my past relationship like this. (sorry for the self-promotion!)
In Christ,
Em
