MISTAKE PRONE

Contributed by Lionel on Monday, 20th September 2004 @ 12:35:24 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

This morning, I woke just before dawn,
looked beside me for my darling Joan.
Found, poor me, I was all alone;
the only love of my life was gone.
Like an escaped canary she had flown,
and I'm left here to cry and moan.
I would give everything that I own,
even apply for a high interest loan,
repent of the bad seed I have sown,
if it would enable me to chance upon,
that little wretch of a fickle fawn:
because I'd like to see her groan,
be taken apart bone by bone,
and planted under my backyard lawn,
for the heartless deceit she has shown.
Then, I'd escape to worlds unknown,
and repeat the same mistake, erelong,
with some misguided shrew of a pawn,
who, unto me an evil breeze has blown,
from the heart of the twilight zone -
a windblown clone of my darling Joan.
