It's just a game

Contributed by Hurretje on Monday, 20th September 2004 @ 03:58:36 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

I stand on a lonely road
Heavy overload
Deepred yellow flow
As the sun prepares to go

I start to move my feet
Ahead to chase the heat
Ahead to fly the cold
Behind me, it unfolds
I really have to run
Find shelter in the sun

What have I done today, to be so scared?
Why have I gone this way? I'm not prepared

It's cold breath in my neck
There is no holding back
I have to run so fast
The hours running past
I can't put up a fight
Its black mouth open wide

And it devours me, from top to toe
And it just swallows me, it's hurting so

(Chorus)
I lived in a dream by day
In a white house at a golden bay
No dark could escape the sun here
The cold would just hide with due fear

Now, as I drown in the night
The moon puts up a fright
Together with the stars
It opens up my scars
Memories of the past
Attacking at their best

And they just break it down, my fortress gate
And they just let it out, the buried hate

I stand on a lonely road
Heavy overload
Deepred yellow flow
As the Sun prepares to go

(Chorus)
I lived in a dream by day
In a white house at a golden bay
But now, I'm up and awake, here
Right now, I'll stand up and fight, dear

Remembering your eyes
Magic lullabies
Keys to a sweet sleep
Buried way too deep
And so far from here
Babe, I just want you near
Come back

I stand on a lonely road
Heavy overload
Memories that kill
None left in my heart but chill

Run!
Come back!
Run!
Come back!
Run!
Come back!
Run!
Come back!

(Raps/spoken)
We all sing: how I love you
We all sing: how I need you
We all swear that it's so true
But we know it's just a game

I take you in my arms, dear
And I put up all my charms, dear
As sweet words will do no harm here
But we know it's just the same

Pretty dances, sweet romances
And your spell on me enhances
As I put down my defences
But we all know it's a shame

We kiss and make love all night long
We don't care about right and wrong
And live as told by each love song
And there's no one to blame

You've bought me roses, I made dinner and we kissed by candlelight
With you, good wine and white stars ev'rything felt so allright
We woke up the next morning, damn did we feel very lame
And as we drowned our headaches, we just knew it's all a game

We all know that each game once comes to an end
And each move we'd made had been carefully planned
But here are no winners, I now understand
So baby, please come back, cause for each other we're meant

I stand on a lonely road
As the sun prepares to go
I stand on a lonely road
As the sun prepares to go
I stand on a lonely road

I went far astray
Guide me back to the light of day
I went far astray
Please, bring me back on the lit way
I went far astray
Baby, with you I want to stay
I went far astray
You and I till the end of days

(Repeat till fade out)

Very deep. This is one of those poems that leaves me staring off into the distance. Beautifully done.

Wonderfully done Hur. I haven't listened to her song as of yet. You did a great job. *S* Cynthia
