Candles

Contributed by all4jesus_teen on Saturday, 18th September 2004 @ 01:10:53 AM in AEST
Topic: BirthdayPoems

I sit here,
and think of you,
my friend.
In the distance,
I imagine a candle,
yet another flame,
symbolising so many things,
the most obvious,
but also,
what no-one would imagine,
hope,
the hope of life.
I dispair for you,
my friend,
for today,
for the first time,
you will recieve no candles,
perhaps no celebration,
a small symbol,
yet full of so much meaning.
I think about the simple words I will say to you,
so simple,
yet we never care what they mean,
today may not be those words,
yet,
of course,
I will still say them,
another symbol,
full of so much meaning,
yet it is not always that way,
the way,
of those words.
To many,
today is,
just like any other,
but,
I imagine,
what today means to you.
Alone,
today,
no candles,
no words,
or words which appear to have no meaning,
for how can today,
be a Happy Birthday.

Well writen, flows nicely. Portrays a sad and lonely experience, but not hopeless.

A touching heartfelt sharing

A caring person is seen behind your lines, a person filled with love for friends. Well written, with emotion etched deeply into the words.
Take care.
David
