A vase stands lonely on a window sill,
remaining that way as the days go by.
Shimmering in the sun, and collecting dust.
At the same time a heart is beginning to rust.
A yound girl sits and stares at her vase
Her empty eyes say "I wish this were a phase"
Flowers would cheer her and lend sweet smells to the air,
but she's waiting for prince charming to bring some and pretends not to care.
Her purse sits full of unspent money.
She longs for the movies, but she has nobody.
She will not go alone, so she sits and waits,
watches T.V. and washes her dirty plates.
A movie would warm her and get her out of the house,
but she doesn't go and she's tucked away like a mouse.
A black dress hangs in the back of her closet.
Untouched for years, it has been forgotten.
It was her favourite one, she wore it to impress.
She wonders if she'll ever wear it again and she doesn't know
She wears her slippers and a soft robe,
sitting on the couch near the television's eerie glow.

I understand this so well! Nicely done, good visuals. It actually made me feel saddened. Wonderful write.
