Remnants of a Forgotten Man

Contributed by thewordzwithin on Wednesday, 15th September 2004 @ 06:03:33 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The small, very small fragments
That make a man, a man
Are all but chipped away
I only wish there was someway to delay
The day I am no longer myself
The day I put myself on the proverbial shelf
Is a day I guess I can no longer escape
It’s almost like you committed rape
Only you were the perpetrator and the victim
An act of self mutilation you can’t get out your system
I only wish I had the wisdom
To see things as they were
Like when I should have did it for myself
Instead of doing it for her
Like when I should have seen things clearly
Instead of looking at a blur
I sold my soul for a glimmer of the bling-bling lifestyle
The jury found me guilty, and there won’t be a mistrial
Guilty of being someone I was not
No probation here
They want me to rot
Rot in a shell I once knew
My insides are broken
I couldn’t but them together with crazy glue
There’s only one hope for me now
And that’s to return from whence I came
And maybe
Someone will remember my true name
