Unfortunate Reality

Contributed by all4jesus_teen on Wednesday, 15th September 2004 @ 03:11:57 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Only in her dreams alone,
Is life no longer confusing,
For life goes on at a speed,
That she can no longer keep up with.

Overwhelmed by her sorrow,
She can’t understand life itself any more,
For life is so confusing,
Emotions are impossible to ever understand,
And how can you explain to others,
What you yourself don’t fully understand.

Life goes on without her,
Seeming to not care,
And with everyone speeding past her,
She wonders where life has gone,
For the hours disappeared into days,
The days into years,
The years into a lifetime.

Now,
Her misery has consumed her,
The misery,
That may eventually,
Take her life,
For life itself has become meaningless,
Where has her hope gone,
For all she has left is despair.

She is running out of answers,
There are options,
She may know in her heart are right,
And yet,
She no longer knows how to choose them.
For,
She has been pushing people away for far too long,
Keeping her feelings locked away,
So that,
If she ever tried to explain them,
She just wouldn’t know how.

She comes so close to finding the answers,
But as she nears them,
Yet again walks away,
For that would mean giving up part of herself,
Her emotions,
That she could never explain.

It would be wrong,
For her to be forced into choosing,
For this is going to turn out worse,
This makes her feel,
That nobody really understands,
No one really cares.

So,
Once again she nears a decision,
Yet this time,
She feels for sure,
It would be the wrong one,
But then again,
Maybe not,
For she feels that humanity no longer cares.

People once her friends,
Have become strangers,
Trying to force her into a decision,
And instead,
Pushing her towards the wrong one.

For her friends never really believed she would go that far,
Instead making for themselves a fantasy,
For they just weren’t ready to admit,
How far her depression had brought her,
This truth,
That they knew in their heart,
But weren’t ready to admit.
So,
They just wouldn’t believe the truth,
And therefore,
Weren’t there for her when she needed them most,
But instead tried to force upon her a choice,
That perhaps may have been their own decision,
But,
They didn’t realise,
That things had to be chosen in her own time.

Now,
Time is running out,
At times,
She feels,
She no longer has anyone to turn to,
No one who would really understand her.
Her friends want her to make decisions,
That should she have to,
She simply could no longer face.

Time is running out,
She must make a choice,
Shall she choose what seems the easy way out,
Or shall she face up to her hardships,
Deal with her problems.

She no longer has the choice of simply doing nothing,
Sitting in the middle,
Not wanting to make a choice.

Sometimes life just seems so hard,
But we must go on,
We have to face our problems,
For otherwise,
They will eventually consume us.

She is running out of time,
Shall she choose the right path,
Face her problems,
Or will she take,
What seems to be,
Her only option,
To end her life.

It just isn’t fair,
That young people have to face this,
This isn’t the way life was meant to be,
Life should be carefree,
However this isn’t the way life is.

What shall she choose?
Only time will tell.

Sad, well-written, thought-provoking poetry. Well done.

A very emotional write, reminded me of a friend, who seemed ok and happy then his girlfriend found him swinging in the garage, Leaving us thinking what could we have done to change history, it is so hard to deal with depression, and even harder to determin if someone, even close is suffering, I guess maybe I was just blind.
Your poem dredged up some memories that I still have no answer too.
But It is your poem not mine, sorry, it was beautifully written and displayed some vivid emotions, and what it feels like to be backed into a corner with nowhere to go.

A tad bit long, I'd say, but quite passionate. Well written, and well followed through, you kept the meaning true through the whole thing.
Take care.
David
