SAVE WHO?

Contributed by starynight0 on Friday, 8th November 2002 @ 12:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

There are two choices, I have to choose alone
Save my friend’s life or save my own
We are on a cliff, I don’t like the height
She won’t believe in what is right
I have tried as hard as I can
I showed her the way but she won’t understand

Our friendship is failing now
I don’t understand how
She was my best friend
I didn’t think that could end
If I stuck by her side
I would have died
She pulled down my belief
I could never find relief
I was being defeated
Things were getting heated

I had to let go
So I wasn’t pulled too low
I have to give up now
NO WAY! NO HOW!
I can’t save her
She begins to stir

She stepped to the edge of the jagged cliffs
I have to stop thinking of the “What Ifs”
This is a decision I have to make alone
Save her life or save my own
She won’t be a christian
because she is lost in her sin
She steps over the edge and it is the end
She is no longer my best friend

I start to cry
Now I want to die
God didn’t let me win the victory
I guess this is how it was meant to be
I don’t understand and probably never will
At least its not myself I want to kill

Now it is time to forget
That us two had ever met
I break down and start to cry
All I want now is to die
I didn’t save you but I can’t save me
I’m in trouble now that I can see
I kneel down and start to pray
That I won’t live another day

Another person appears on the cliff now
I want to help her but I don’t know how
She’s approaching the cliffs steep side
I can’t watch her die like my other friend died
She is straying too far away
I can’t wait another day

What do I do now
I need to know how
I kneel and pray
That she won’t lose her way
God answers my pleas
and now she sees
I am ready to face the next fight
Because I’m in God’s sight

I may not always win
But I will always be a christian
With God’s help I’ll face my defeat
Because the one girl I did meet
I helped her to see
So I know I hold the key
I can save some friend
So they won’t all die in the end

One girl has lightened my hope
So now I will be able to cope
The defeat isn’t so bad
Because the victory helps me to be glad
The answer to my question “who do I save”
The one girl I did save gave
I may save some
But only those who are willing to come
