Victim's final cry

Contributed by 2bruisedandbeaten4you on Monday, 13th September 2004 @ 06:13:19 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Shackled
Bound
Thrown to the ground
Exterior tough
Inside I’m weak
I cry out for love
I cry out to you
I cry out for peace
To just get me through
The endless night I suffer inside
The countless bruises I try to hide
You can silence me with your fists and your boot
You can threaten to stab or to shoot
But you can’t kill what’s within
What’s under the skin
And inside the heart
You can’t cut that apart
Abuse me and use me and beat me down
Abuse me and use me and slap me around
But inside I’m whole and happy and free
Inside I’m whole and happy and me
Because as much as you tried
And as much as I’ve cried
As much as you’ve stomped down my pride
And my esteem and self-worth and the joy I had felt
As much as you beat them out of me with a belt
I am inside, and whole as can be
I am inside, and inside I’m free
Not shackled
Not bound
Not chained to the ground
