THE MARK OF THE MAN…(©Peter Sprenkeler)
His word…his integrity…to this he will cleave,
Even to his own detriment…he cannot bend his law.
A promise is a vow…it must be upheld,
It is his soul…his honour…nothing matters more.
The mark has little to do with prestige and status,
Nothing in common with wealth nor power nor fame.
It is a stance of the heart…that right is right,
And burns within his soul as a powerful flame.
A man of distinction carries this with intense humility,
By justice he will live…and from it never sway.
Nothing can influence nor corrupt his ‘steely’ resolve,
It is right…and he will always walk this way.
He has mastered the art of deep introspection,
Carefully examines his motives and state of mind.
He loves powerfully…forgives willingly,
And will in all ugliness…a portion of beauty find.
Gracious in victory…yet humble in defeat,
Words of anger will never spill from his soul.
For he knows full well…words can be weapons,
And can exact on any relationship…an irreversible toll.
