Candle Light

Contributed by Overstated on Monday, 13th September 2004 @ 03:52:19 PM in AEST
Topic: PoemsonBeauty

My burning candle trespasses the wind,
As I hide out here, by your porch,
The gate slams outside your house,
My candle cradles my fingers warm,
But inside the candle light its spirit is torn

My burning candle trespasses the wind,
Its strong flame cheats natures tide,
It toils and thinks before it decides,
That theirs nowhere better to be,
Than by your side.

This kind of takes on the meaning of an illicit rendevous to me. I have read it several times. It is a good poem but the imagery was a bit awkward. Maybe another verse or rework the last one? Keep writing.

I got the impression that no matter how much you were hurt by this woman, and are still hurting, you're still alive and in love with her.And no matter what comes your way, like the candle in the wind, you won't give out or stop trying to win her heart, every obstacle(wherever they may be,in your heart mind or soul)will never be big enough to wear you out.Nicely done !

A very intriguing write.....Gives me a haunting image of a ghost lover, but then again I'm a bit odd :oP In any case I liked it.

Well done

Very deep.
It does make one think that perhaps there is more than one meaning here, but not for all to see.
well done.
