When I took my first steps,
They’re the one’s I’ll not forget,
It takes courage to let fear go,
I have been there that’s how I know.
Fear will destroy you if you let it,
Take from you every last bit,
Of happiness, love & trust,
It’ll leave you choking in the dust.
I’m so glad that I looked deep inside,
In your heart I did confide,
After I finally let love right in,
I had the strength to then begin.
The first steps are the hardest,
First nights are always the darkest,
But I have something to see me through,
& that something lies in you.
Were before I was too scared,
I am different, now I dare,
To face my fears sober & straight,
I am the one who can control my fate.
Life can be hard & life can be fun,
It helps when you carry a little bit of sun,
I am happy now I am letting of fear,
& holding onto my love that’s so dear.
