A Peasants Life

There is a shackle shanty
grass entwined to make a roof,
bent, warped and crooked,
but it's existance is living proof,
that still people of today
live in great and dire need,
while English fools sit upon their thrones
gluttonous in all their greed.
If the fools could turn their attention
to the horrific conditions out of sight,
then they may suppress their greediness
in aid of anothers plight.
For the ground is dry and barren
the wet rain refuses to pour,
food won't grow without it
so empty remains the store.
The only comfort available to them
is a hard floor used as a bed,
a mound of dirt for a pillow
to lay a starving head.
They're hungry for some nourishment,
they're hungry for some knowledge,
hungry to plant the growthful seeds
of woodland and new foilage
of a shackle shanty town.
