Now I Lay

Now I lay me down to sleep
As the ambulance roars down the street
My mother prayed my promise was something I could keep
I told her I’d never run the streets again as long as I live
And that my, “former life”, was something I’d give
Up, until my past came back to haunt me
He’d put me on the streets and flaunt me
To whoever paid top dollar
Oh, how I would scream and holler
On the inside
I just wanted my father
But he didn’t want me
So I guess that’s why he left me
Sometimes I wish my mom would have aborted
Instead she kept me
He was the closest thing to a father I had
He always made sure I never felt sad
But I did feel sad
Every time those men laid me down on the bed
Every time I saw my reflection
I wish I was dead
I couldn’t take it anymore
Crying every night on the floor
Hoping my dad would come through the door
And save me like he was supposed to
Take me from this life I was exposed to
But weeks became months
And months became years
Waiting for him to wipe away my tears
But tomorrow never came
So now I lye here
Staring in the air
Singing my final prayer:
“Now I lay me down to sleep”
“I pray the Lord my soul to keep”
“If I should die before I wake”
“I pray the Lord my soul to take”

Very good writing even tho it's heart wrenching.
I'm so sorry that u had to live like that. It's so sad that u were taken advatage of and made to do things u didn't wonna do.
