As I burst out to face the gloomy moonlight,
one fleeting glance behind revealed to me your lies.
Friends, buddies, pals, we promised each other;
but with a last glimpse i saw the tears in your eyes.
While the door shuts slowly, Prince Charming appears and
I cannot help but wonder at my own feelings
towards you; you, the beautiful princess, who
through my nightmares was a source of healing.
Hard as I tried, these thoughts intruded, for
every time I saw you they seemed to entice
me more. Because of your betraying eyes I know
you felt it too; God, one kiss would have sufficed.
Now, it seems, you're saying goodbye when we've just
met; however, your emotions still rest inside,
hidden, shy of acting on what they truly feel,
while mine charge ahead, not afraid to die.
So when you ride off into the sunset, remember
my heartfelt words; when the time comes to
past judgement, take a look in the mirror and
ask the person staring back into your soul,
Were you true to yourself?
