Teach Us How To Fail, So We Can Win

Contributed by Willofree on Sunday, 12th September 2004 @ 08:29:53 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Fear of failure is very powerful you see
It can thwart our best attempts to be
Someone special who was creative and proud
But way to busy being afraid of the crowd

Imagine being judged by all that we see
Left alone and disappointed are we
Tears well up inside us as we are so lonely
Wishing to be more outgoing, less lowly

Feeling the pressure rise within
We suffer our fear we won't win
How angry we become with ourselves
Disappointment deep within us dwells

Next time it will be different we say
So from this failure we retreat today
That fear just won't leave us be
Fear of failure looms stronger then we

It's easy to get fed up with this situation
There is a need to do something out of desperation
We challenge the logic of our perception
Delete old tapes with their power of suggestion

The futility of our fear becomes apparent you see
With that awareness we begin to feel free
Why should we be any less restrained
Then the person sitting next to us is able to maintain

The secret finally dawns on you and me
That we are in charge of our transparency
What we were willing to share
Was something we could control right then and there

Finally realizing that our sharing was finite
To share a small part of us would be all right
Our whole personhood was not at stake
Just that in which we were willing to partake

Now we can shed self-consciousness and fear
All can fail and still have it be clear
As a person we are ok within
We can now risk to win

You are such a great teacher.

Failure is but a mere delay, fear is what others have tried to instill in our hearts, reach for the heavens and see nothing but rainbows.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful lesson.

Chris

I loved your poem's title.

And the poem's great too.
You can tell how mature a person is, by how they deal with failure...
Coz in life, there are actually no failures, just lessons we need to learn from.

Another well written poem. You have been growing exponentially in your expressions, and it shows here. Fabulous, sir.

This piece is so personal, felt like it was written expressly for me. Awesome feeling! Great expression and wording.
