When Night Is No Longer Lonely

Topic: LovePoetry

When Night No Longer Is Lonely

When sleep beckons and we turn out the light,
how sad that we each go to bed alone at night
instead of lying next to each other
under a soft down filled cover.

We miss that warmth of our bodies heat
the sweet sensation of lips as they meet.
Hand's that search for pleasure places,
the brush of a cheek on each other's faces.

We miss that arm that holds so tight,
giving security and it feels so right.
Though only faint light from a candle glows,
the love is revealed... oh, how it shows.

Soon our bed will again be shared by two,
yes darling...by me and you.
No more empty space with that lonely feel,
the night with it's magic, love will reveal.

Closness, tenderness and peace from within,
as a new journey in our life we begin.
Together we lay, feeling deep content
after the passion and emotions are spent.

A little too close to home, June. So unsettling but a thrill to come across a poem that speaks to my heart and circumstances so directly. You've written some lovely poetic essays on the human condition and our longing - for intimacy, for solitude, for more life. Constant craving, gentle longing, grateful imbibing. Thanks for posting this one. Timeless.

Spike
