You saw it coming

Contributed by Xenodata on Sunday, 12th September 2004 @ 01:45:50 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

At the start it’s love, stars, and butterflies
Until she starts deceiving you with her lies
But at that point the feelings are at their peak
Blinded, I forgave, tried to behave, so to speak

Blinded, I caved in, ignored the truth, lived on love
Even if she’s the right hand and I’m the left glove
And tried to turn her inside out instead of switching
Became a mother, not a lover, not even twitching

I became the co-star of my own relation$hit
Too busy playing a role and filling her holes
But what life teaches you isn’t always fair
That you shouldn’t act when you don’t even care

Even if it’s convenient that she lives nearby
And you end up loving her thighs and her pies
Of this oil that your water cannot be without
But a love built on doubt is very hard to sprout

A love that blinds when you think with the heart
Gives you Alzheimer’s even though you’re smart
So much $hit on my plate and I still wipe it clean
Day after day, it’s always the same scene

But I’m a sucker for love, there’s nothing I won’t do
For a couple of benefits and a girl I would do
But the idiot I am realized way too late
That you can’t make a seven into an eight

Just like you cannot make a blind man see…
Except with a shattered heart, that’s a guarantee
Too bad, ‘cause I tried everything to a degree
See, I shed tears and blood and still couldn’t do it
Still continued thinking that I’d go through it

But her eyes opened up a lot faster than mine
When the wheel stopped turning as fast as before
It would always start again but I always would want more
And so my team was always winning with a perfect score

But I got sloppy, let my guard down, lost my head start
As I took her for granted, I was just leaving her heart
The truths that I saw in a day, she saw them in nine
That she’s grape & I’m wine, she’s fire & I’m pine

The man sees with reason and the woman sees the pain
She agrees to try again and then he turns off his brain
Until she gets fed up with the trying and crying
And ends the vicious cycle of lying and sighing

This is yet another chapter to the book of my laws
Says I should never live to let go of my balls
For a simple good time, I shouldn’t keep her mine
If all signs point to the fact that I should resign…

I think both male and females can be easily decieved by their partners lies.
Even though your instincts are screaming there's something wrong, i think we tend to stumble on hoping it will get better.
Sometimes people feel trapped and even stupid especially if they have been forwarned about their partner.
But whatever when it happens it still hurts like hell.
Very well wriiten poetry, thanks for sharing.

This is well written and i could feel the pain and hurt in your words. l liked the way you rhymed the ending words in each line. That's hard to do and i think you accomplished it. Sometimes we can have a difficult time with change but once we are ready to go throuh the emotion that we are trying to avoid, things get better. But unfortunatley we have to go through the hurt first and then we can move on.

There usually are signs. Sometimes it can be saved, but not always. You used good descriptions here and it flows very well.
