I just chanced to be walking by
When you lifted your head, and I caught your eye
I didn’t believe in love at first sight
But what else can be said for what I felt that night
I wondered about you when we had dinner and a dance
If it really was just this chance
Days turned to weeks, which evolved into a year
When we had been in love, living together, and coming near
To the place in which we’d decide
To go on together as groom and bride
And then before I knew it
The rings were on, the house was bought
And I had a baby cooing
Now I sometimes and sit and wonder
About that fateful day
If my meeting you was meant to be
Or if I only chanced to walk your way
