How'd We Forget

AmericanTragedy

It was a day like none we’ve seen before,
One that will remain in American lore.
Two planes crashed, into buildings so great,
Because a man was so full of hate.
Then a third hit a government place,
The side of the building was charred space.
And finally a fourth landed in a bare field,
Many thought that wasn’t a big deal.
Four planes lost, 3 buildings hurt,
Thousands of bodies lost in the dirt.
The pain, the suffering, the never-ending fear,
The crying of the families is what we all hear.
For a while it seemed, we wouldn’t forget,
But three years have past, and I’m beginning to regret.
You don’t see the flags, you don’t see the tears,
It seems as if we’ve lost on inner fears.
People laughing, people having fun,
The sky is bright from our sun.
The flowers are in bloom, the grass is green,
Birds are chirping, if you see what I mean.
It doesn’t seem right, that things can be like this,
It should be cloudy and gray, everything amiss.
With rain, and lightening, and gusting winds,
People crying, and comforting their kids.
It’s seems as if we forgot, what happened on this day,
We don’t sit down at night to pray.
Many died, and many have suffered much pain,
How could you forget this? How could it leave your brain?
You can’t forget the suffering of those,
Who forever will lay in mortal repose.
Many of the souls have gone up to heaven,
From the attacks of those on 9/11.
